Detailed description of ASU Karsten Golf Course

The Arizona State University ASU Karsten Golf Course is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Tempe, Arizona, just a short 10-minute drive from Sky Harbor International Airport. The course is named after Karsten Solheim, the founder of the Ping Golf Company, who along with others who funded course construction. 

The course first opened for play in 1989. The course was designed by Pete Dye.

The signature Pete Dye railroad tie bulkheads can be found on holes #9 and #18 of the Scottish Links style course. Mounding defines most of the fairways.

#16 is the signature hole, a par-3, that measures 248-yard from the tips. This is a Dirty Harry type of hole that seemingly asks you, "Do you feel lucky today." It's a true risk-reward hole. If you fly straight at the green, you have over 210 yards over water that lies to the right of the fairway and front of the green. Do you go for it or play safe down the fairway? 

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 7,057 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,765 yards. The longest hole on the course is the #17 a 581 yard par-5. The shortest hole on the course is the #7, a par-3 that plays to 155 yards from the back tees.
